A simple recipe for a teatime treat!
225g self-raising flour
25g caster sugar
Raisins (put in your desired amount – more if you like raisins, less if you don’t. You can also substitute raisins for other things, such as chocolate chips or cherries)
Pre-heat oven to 220c. Lightly grease a baking sheet.
Mix flour and salt, and rub into the butter
Stir in sugar and milk to form a soft dough
On a floured work surface, knead dough lightly. Pat out dough to 2cm thickness.
Use 5cm cutter to stamp out rounds out of the dough until you have used it all up.
Glaze in eggwash (Whisk 1 egg and brush scone).
Bake for 12-15 minutes until well risen and golden.
You can substitute the raisins for other things, such as cheese (although don’t use the sugar)
